FORUM
IYEF Geneva is an international forum exploring how young people can make sound economic decisions in an era of uncertainty.
It brings young people together with educators, experts and institutions to examine what it means to be prepared when the conditions keep changing.
For generations, preparing for the future followed a familiar logic: get an education, choose a profession, build a career, save, invest, plan ahead. Today, that sequence is far less predictable. Technology is reshaping professions, careers are becoming less linear, and economic conditions can shift faster than long-term plans.
IYEF Geneva was created for this reality. Through financial literacy, economic simulations and international dialogue, the Forum explores how knowledge becomes judgement, and how young people can learn to make decisions when the answer is not obvious.
WHY IT MATTERS
The future will demand more from young people than knowing the right answers.
They will choose what to study while professions are changing. They will make decisions about money while economic conditions shift. They will have to judge when to take a risk, reconsider a plan or recognise an opportunity, often without having all the information.
These abilities are difficult to develop in theory alone. They grow through experience: making a choice, seeing its consequences, adjusting and deciding again.
IYEF Geneva creates a place to practise those decisions before they become real.
WHY JOIN
For Youth
Learn what happens when a decision meets reality. Make choices, respond when circumstances change and see the consequences. Meet young people from different countries, compare perspectives and practise making decisions when there is no obvious answer.
FOR SCHOOLS
Give students a chance to put knowledge into practice. Bring financial literacy beyond the classroom through economic simulations and international exchange. Connect with educators exploring how to prepare young people for decisions they will face beyond school.
For Partners
Invest in how the next generation learns to make decisions. Support practical financial education and connect with young people, educators and institutions. Help create opportunities to test ideas, build judgement and become better prepared for economic uncertainty.
Financial
Literacy
Tournament
This is where decision-making becomes practice.
The III International Financial Literacy Tournament puts young people in situations where they make financial choices, respond to changing circumstances and see the consequences.
At its centre is Life Capital, an educational economic simulation that compresses years of financial decision-making into a few hours.
Test a strategy. See what happens. Decide again.

WHY GENEVA
Geneva has long been a place where economic thinking meets international responsibility.
For Bohdan Hawrylyshyn, economist, educator and long-time Geneva resident, the city became a place from which he worked across business, education and international institutions, asking a question that remains remarkably current: what makes societies effective, responsible and capable of navigating change?
In 2026, the year marking the centenary of his birth, IYEF Geneva returns to that question from the perspective of a new generation. The Forum brings young people to Geneva to explore financial literacy, economic decision-making and human capital in a world where certainty is increasingly difficult to rely on.
IYEF Geneva 2026 is dedicated to the centenary of Bohdan Hawrylyshyn’s birth, with an official letter of support from the Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Family Foundation.
